Penguin Shops was started in 2007 by Alison Hanford and Toni Woodford, to provide individuals and small businesses with high quality templates at reasonable prices.
Alison runs her own web and print design business and is in her third year of trading. Toni is a marketing and admin whizz, running both her own business and her own highly successful parenting forum. We are collaborating to offer quick and affordable online stores to individuals and small businesses who are just setting up in business for the first time. Our aim is to provide excellent quality online stores at a very reasonable cost.
What can I do with my Penguin Shop?
From your own admin panel you can :
- Create categories and add a description for each.
- Create subcategories and add an image and a description for each.
- Add new products and include name of product, price, description using a WYSIWYG editor, quantity, image and weight. You can also add in a 'date available' date if required.
- Cross sell items that will show on individual product pages as 'Also Recommended' products.
- Make products sale items using the 'Specials' link in the admin panel.
- View customer accounts created.
- View orders made.
- Update order status to processing, despatched, etc.
- Print order invoices and packing slips.
- Set payment details. Our setup allows you a choice of offering payment via cheque/postal order, Paypal or Nochex to your own customers. You will need to have your own account at Paypal and/or Nochex to implement these payment modules.
- Set shipping options either by flat rate, individual item shipping, table rate or zone rate.
- Create discount codes for customers/marketing/advertising.
What happens when I have chosen my store and paid for it?
We will email you to confirm a 'go live' date and to collect any details that we may require from you. We aim to have all store installation and/or additional designs completed in one week. Once we have completed the installation, we will email you with your admin panel details.
How do I add my items to the store?
Once you have been emailed your admin panel details, you can login. It's very easy to add items and we will send you an infosheet and you can find answers to questions in our support forum.
Do you have a portfolio?
As Penguin Shops is a very new venture, we have not yet added a portfolio section
to our website.
However, we have recently saw the launch of Apple
Cart Crafts, Jessicam
Boutique, Buzzy
Bee Beads and MumTops
and had some great customer feedback.
Penguin Shops have just created my first website for me and I just wanted to say how impressed I am both with their design concept and the customer support available.
As a complete novice to the whole web design idea I wanted a service that would provide me with an individual design for my site and lots of answers to the numerous questions I knew I'd have. Penguin shops more than exceeded my expectations, and have created for me a website that I am extremely proud to own!
